Missouri Virtual School

Why offer distance learning courses from the Missouri Virtual School?

  • Courses are offered real-time through interactive, blended technologies as needed by your school.
  • Cost-effective option for expanding your curriculum.
  • Wide selection of courses from which to choose including dual credit and advanced placement options.
  • Highly-trained teachers dedicated to making your student’s learning experience exceptional!

The Missouri Virtual School (MVS) was organized in 1998 to address the needs of rural schools in Missouri in the area of science and mathematics.  Since then it has grown to include the areas of foreign language (Spanish and French), English, history, physiology and computer courses as well.  MVS is an integral part of The Extended Campus at Missouri State University.

MVS courses are placed in the student’s regularly scheduled day and meet just like any other class offered at the school.  There are two main ways classes are delivered.  One way is in a synchronous format taught through interactive television or Adobe Connect Pro.  The other way is through blended technology for very small classes.  Blended technologies use a combination of synchronous and asynchronous components to deliver curriculum materials.
